The service for organizing communities and events Locals.org, created by MSQRD founders Yauhen Nevyhen and Siarhei Hanchar, will be closed on May 31. A corresponding message appeared in the app, although there is no information about it yet on marketplace pages and the website, writes Devby.io.

The developers say they seriously considered the situation and decided to close the project. They did not name the reasons. During the service's operation, users established more than a million new contacts, organized over 300 thousand joint events, and created more than 7.5 thousand communities.
Payments to community creators will continue as planned via Stripe. They will also be able to export lists of their members.
After May 20, it will no longer be possible to create new paid events or register new members. And generally, from this day on, it will not be possible to create new communities and events. On May 31, the app will be completely shut down.
The platform was launched in 2020, and Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova participated in the project. Hanchar and Nevyhen invested over $1 million of their own funds in the development. Nevyhen said that the idea for Locals was born from the desire to revive the Belarusian project "MaeSens" — a platform for charitable auction meetings, where Nevyhen once worked.
On Locals, people could offer any amount for a meeting or a shared experience. It was planned that 80% of the funds from meetings would go to charity, and 20% — to platform development and community growth. The partners planned to monetize the platform through transaction fees and additional paid options.
