A game goes viral where you can be born in any country in the world
The game 1 in 8 Billions ("One of 8 Billion") was released on October 5, and in less than a month it has captivated users worldwide. Why is living other people's lives so captivating?

1 in 8 Billions is a project by a South Korean developer who works under the pseudonym Jin Hwiyos. With the help of the neural network Claude, he created the game in just four hours, and it turned into an internet phenomenon.
The game is now available in 14 languages. To start it, you need to go to the game's website and click on the "Нарадзіцца" button — "To be born", if you choose the English version. The program chooses which country your character will be born in, depending on the actual population of different countries: it is clear that in real life, the chance of being born in China or India is much higher than, for example, in Belarus.
Next, the program creates a separate page for your character. Their life will depend on family income, abilities, place of birth, and many other factors that you will not be able to choose — all of this depends on statistical probability. You will be able to make important decisions for the character, but you will have to build their happy life despite crises, illnesses, and wars, and sometimes the lack of access to contraception and hygiene products.
For example, the algorithms decided that your character is a girl from a farming family in Uganda. In the first years of her life, she is surrounded by food shortages, she suffers from malaria. At 6 years old, your character earns money through physical labor and only goes to school at 8. But at 10 years old, the character has to quit school and return to physical labor.
When the heroine grows up a bit, she will have the opportunity to earn money for at least a few years of school. She leaves her husband due to domestic violence, gives birth to six children, and only finishes university at 32, then barely manages debts and develops a drug addiction.
The game quickly gained popularity on social networks: ten days after its launch, according to the counter on the game's website, more than 84 thousand people were playing it simultaneously. Those who have already played 1 in 8 Billions share their impressions on social networks — there are reviews in Russian and even in Belarusian. For many users, the game helped them understand how much a person's life depends on the country and family where they were born.
