If they do not sign a peace agreement.

U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested imposing 200-percent tariffs against Ukraine and Russia due to the lack of a peace agreement. The statement was made at a Republican campaign rally in Fort Myers, Florida.
“Tariffs helped us end eight wars. Perhaps we should immediately apply this approach to Ukraine and Russia. I hadn't thought about it before, but it wouldn't work anyway, because we don't buy much from them,” Trump said.
Earlier this week, the American leader stated that a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine is now perhaps closer than ever before.
“A few days ago I spoke — I mentioned it before — well, a few days ago I spoke with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin about resolving the war in Ukraine. By the way, I think we are getting closer to it — perhaps we are closer to solving the problem now than ever before,” Trump said.
