As if nothing had happened. How the residential building in Homiel, where an explosion occurred, looks now

Five months ago, when a gas explosion occurred in a residential building on Kosarava Street in Homiel, no one could say what would happen to the house next. Would it be temporarily relocated, completely demolished, or would the damaged section be dismantled? Any outcome was possible. But after an inspection, it turned out that the structures were in such a state that the collapsed floors could be rebuilt, writes Onliner.

Since March of this year, the ten-story building began to be brought back to a presentable appearance. To restore the building, the local housing construction plant had to work hard: modern panels and floor slabs did not "fit" the Soviet base. They had to launch a separate product line.

Soon, the designer arrived at the construction site, and the workers began to assemble the floors. Today, the house looks as if nothing had happened.

The only things that give away the recent problems are the floors not yet painted in the overall facade tone and the unglazed loggias.

In total, over the past period, specialists have installed 114 reinforced concrete elements and 28 metal structures. Workers also renovated the affected entrance. The roof over the third section is almost ready.

— Today, 78 people are working on the site. The roofing installation is 90% complete, and facade insulation work is 60% complete. Work has also been carried out to install window units in the renovated apartments and in common areas, — says Pavel Korkha, First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of the "Gomelremstroy" organization.

This is how the upper floors looked after the explosion

Replacement of engineering networks continues on the site. All electrical wiring in the apartments has been restored, and preparations are underway to replace the distribution boards on the stairwells.

As for the house as a whole, it is undergoing major repairs. Work on replacing water supply and sewage risers is already underway. Builders promise to hand over the house to the city by the end of June.
