According to MFA press secretary Ruslan Varankou, the incident itself occurred on May 12.

Polish law enforcement officers, it is alleged, mistakenly identified a group of Belarusians as members of a criminal gang, which led to them using their weapons.

As a result, one of the Belarusian citizens sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalized in serious condition. He suffered head and leg injuries.

The MFA noted that this incident, in their opinion, casts doubt on the level of security in Poland, and recommended Belarusians to consider possible risks when traveling abroad.

It is also reported that Polish authorities have launched an investigation and are treating the incident as a possible exceeding of authority by law enforcement officers. According to Ruslan Varankou, Belarus expects an objective investigation and the identification of those responsible.
