The video that appeared online shows a bear crossing the road at night, followed by four cubs. It is believed that they are already several months old.
Usually, a brown bear gives birth to one or two, less often three cubs. Therefore, the appearance of four at once is a great rarity.
Cubs are born in winter, during hibernation, approximately in January-February. They are born very small, blind, and helpless, weighing only about 400-750 grams. Therefore, since autumn, the female carefully prepares and insulates the den so that the little ones can survive.
Female bears do not bear offspring every year — usually two to three years pass between births.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, up to a thousand bears may live in the forests of Belarus, and their population is gradually increasing. Experts note that Belarusian bears are usually not aggressive: for many years there have been no cases of the appearance of so-called 'shatuns' (bears that have not gone into hibernation and can be dangerous).
