On November 15, 2020, I did not go "to fight Lukashenka."
I went to do my job. I had a professional task: to cover the protest live. I did not return home from work.
I didn't return not because I was picked up by abstract forces of anti-love and anti-normality and transported to an emerald city, but because specific employees of specific security forces received a carte blanche from their leader to capture journalists.
And it was he — who gave the order — and they — who carried out the order — who stole five and a half years of my life.
The people who did this have names. Including quite well-known (odious) ones. By a strange coincidence, some of these names are familiar to both me and Masha simultaneously. Each of us doesn't name them aloud for our own reason. I — because no one has taken away their carte blanche.
Today, it's not worth forgetting about this while applying a warm compress of high-minded self-deception to the wound. This way it will not heal.
P.S. In the stream of criticism directed at Masha's statement at GLOBSEC, I was outraged by some commentators' fixation on the color of her lipstick. Moreover, all these "red lips" and "nonsense" for some reason mostly come from men. Don't you yourselves feel how tasteless such comments look?
