A fire broke out at the Atyrau Oil Refinery in Kazakhstan — one of the country's three largest refineries with a capacity of 5.5 million tons of oil per year, writes Moscow Times.
The company's press service reported that oil sludge caught fire inside a closed-type settler of mechanical treatment facilities. No work was being carried out there at the time. No one was injured. The plant continues to operate in normal mode. Footage from the scene appeared online. Later, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire at the refinery had been extinguished. It was put out by 65 people and 19 units of equipment.
