Five NATO countries opposed the idea of allocating at least 0.25% of GDP to support Ukraine, writes The Telegraph, citing sources in the Alliance.
These are the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, and Canada. According to the publication, because of this, the initiative will not be approved at the NATO summit in Ankara.
At the same time, the proposal was supported by the Baltic states, Poland, the Netherlands, and some Nordic countries — these allies already spend more than 0.25% of their GDP on supporting Ukraine.
