Radical changes in Mogilev's transport scheme: Mir Avenue closure to affect 27 routes

Due to the construction of an inner-city ring road, Mogilev is facing unprecedented changes in its public transport routes. Starting May 29, traffic will be completely blocked on the most crucial section of Mir Avenue, which will lead to changes in the movement of almost half of the city's transport.

Traffic on the section of Mir Avenue from the intersection with Cosmonauts and Yakubovsky Streets to the Mogilev Regional Center for Creativity will be stopped on May 29 at 12:00 PM. These measures are related to the active phase of constructing a new transport interchange, which is expected to connect various city districts, bypassing the center.

To ensure public transport operation, road services have urgently equipped new turnaround areas on Cosmonauts Street near building №1, on Yakubovsky Street, and directly on Mir Avenue near the Center for Creativity. In total, the changes affect twelve bus, four trolleybus, and eleven private lines.

Due to its reliance on the contact network, the trolleybus fleet is forced to act as radically as possible. Routes №16 and №16d are completely cancelled and will not run.

To compensate for the inconvenience, a universal travel pass rule is being introduced for the entire period of the Mir Avenue section closure. Bus tickets are now fully valid on trolleybuses, and vice versa.

Below are the exact new traffic schemes for all affected transport.

What are they building?

The large-scale infrastructure project, which began in 2023, is intended to relieve the city's historic center from internal traffic. The southwest bypass (M15 highway), opened four years ago, successfully diverted transit trucks from Yakubovsky Street, and now a new six-lane highway, approximately five kilometers long, will directly connect Korolev Street with Cosmonauts Street. The project includes the construction of three transport rings, two of which are already functional.

Currently, active works are underway on the third ring (intersection of Mir Avenue and Yakubovsky Street), where an underground pedestrian crossing 60 meters long with elevators and three staircases is being built.

The transport artery includes two overpasses that will allow traffic flows to be distributed at different levels without stopping movement. One of them, over 560 meters long, will pass over railway tracks and Pervomayskaya Street; the second, over 250 meters long, is being built over the railway near the pedestrian bridge between Mir Avenue and Orlovsky Street. The full completion of all 22 construction phases and the commissioning of the highway are planned for 2028.
