Minsk resident Iryna solemnly received Peruvian citizenship PHOTO FACT
The ceremony took place in Cusco, the historical capital of the Inca Empire.
On June 27, 2026, Peru's National Migration Service awarded the Title of Peruvian Citizenship to five individuals born abroad and permanently residing in the Cusco region. Among them is a citizen of Belarus.
The new Peruvians came from Bolivia, Belarus, Cuba, Turkey, and Venezuela. All of them obtained citizenship on the grounds of marriage — this mechanism is intended for foreigners who have been married to a Peruvian citizen for more than two years and have decided to settle in the country. During the ceremony, they took an oath of allegiance to the country, respect for the Peruvian Constitution, and national symbols.
The Belarusian on this list is Iryna Ustsinovich Fernandez. Judging by her social media, she is a Minsk resident who graduated from BSEU in the early 2010s. From the mid-2010s, landscapes of Peru began to appear more and more frequently on Iryna's Facebook.
“You've already started to look like a Peruvian woman!” — Iryna's friend jokes in the comments. “And why don't people believe me that I'm from Belarus,” she laughs in response.
According to Peruvian rules, there is no need to renounce a second citizenship; one can keep both Belarusian and Peruvian. With a Peruvian passport, the Schengen area is open, but a visa is required when traveling to the USA.
