Lukashenka called Western media publications about military threat from Russia and Belarus 'nonsense'
The politician today held a meeting with security forces following the results of an inspection of the combat and mobilization readiness of the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

«You have probably noticed that recently, our Western so-called partners in the media have been paying close attention to what is happening in the armed forces of our country. They are primarily concerned by the fact that we too often, very thoroughly and intensively conduct inspections of military units. Not just the army, but all armed forces,» Lukashenka noted.
«In this regard, taking advantage of the current occasion, I want to tell them that there is nothing extraordinary here. Honestly and openly, I said that we are preparing for war to avoid it. We are not going to attack anyone, as our Western 'friends' in the media have recently launched a campaign claiming that Russia will attack at least the Baltic countries, possibly Poland, from the territory of Belarus and together with Belarus,» said Alexander Lukashenka.
«The second direction of their criticism of so-called Belarus is that we are allegedly going to break through the Suwalki Corridor in the direction of the Kaliningrad region. I don't want to justify myself to them here. This is complete nonsense,» he added.
Lukashenka also stated that the incident involving the alleged infiltration of an armed group from Belarus into Latvia was staged.
«We know perfectly well, I have already been reported, that all of this was done by the Latvians themselves as an informational pretext to get money from the European Union. We have nothing to do with this. That we (allegedly) infiltrated their territory — masked people, military personnel — seized, captured someone or pushed some group of migrants there. You can't imagine greater nonsense,» he said.
Last week, Latvian media reported on a provocation on the border with Belarus.
Initially, people in black clothing, with faces hidden under masks, presumably armed, pushed migrants to the Latvian side.
Later, the same people crossed the border and stole surveillance cameras, after which they returned to the territory of Belarus.
Afterward, a video appeared online from an organization called «Black Rus», which claimed responsibility for the incident.
