Tajik tried to import four times the permitted amount of money into Belarus
Operational customs initiated another criminal case due to the illegal movement of a large sum of cash across the border. In Minsk airport, undeclared more than 40 thousand dollars were found with a citizen of Tajikistan.
The citizen of Tajikistan arrived at Minsk National Airport on a flight from Tashkent. For customs control, the man chose the green corridor, intended for passengers without goods subject to declaration.
However, during customs operations, employees of the Minsk Regional Customs found more than 40 thousand US dollars and 21 thousand Uzbek sums with him. The total amount exceeded the established limit for moving money without customs declaration by more than four times.
A criminal case was initiated under part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code of Belarus. This norm provides for punishment up to five years of imprisonment, as well as confiscation of funds.
Customs authorities remind that when moving an amount exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand US dollars across the customs border, it is necessary to go through the red corridor and fill out a passenger customs declaration. Criminal liability is provided for illegal movement of money equivalent to an amount exceeding 30 thousand US dollars.
