Previously, Dzmitry Shliakhtsin worked in Lukashenka's Administration and was the director of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. However, he did not get along with the new minister, Marat Markau.
First Deputy Minister of Culture Dzmitry Shliakhtsin has been dismissed from his post.
He held his position since December 2024 (he was appointed on the same day as Ruslan Charanietski as minister).
However, after Marat Markau's arrival as Minister of Culture, Shliakhtsin did not last long. He gave his last interview as First Deputy in May. As Nasha Niva learned, he was recently dismissed. He was also removed from the list of potential directors for the National Historical Museum (which, after Lukashenka's inspection, is likely to change its name).
Shliakhtsin was the initiator of the idea to strip the Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas museums of their independence — they may be included as branches in the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature. He also proposed closing the Museum of the History of Theatrical and Musical Culture. When cultural workers began to worry about the fate of the exhibits with such developments, Shliakhtsin disdainfully said that they should be put into boxes and taken to the dump.
Dzmitry Shliakhtsin is 42 years old. He is a graduate of the BSU Faculty of History (museum studies department). He began his career at the National Historical Museum. From 2010, he worked in the department of cultural institutions and folk art of the Ministry of Culture, and from 2014 — in the department of socio-cultural policy of the main ideological department of Lukashenka's Administration.
In 2016, Shliakhtsin became the director of the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War. Later, he was the head of the secretariat of the Development Bank.
