Graphic appears showing how long Russia unpunishedly struck civilian warehouses in Ukraine when it did not retaliate
«Ukraine itself released the genie from the bottle,» stated Putin. The blogger project, WarTranslated, which aims to «archive the war in Ukraine,» published a graphic of strikes on logistical facilities in Russia and Ukraine. The graphic shows that for more than three years, Russia systematically hit civilian warehouses, terminals, and sorting centers in Ukraine, but only in July 2026 did similar targets in Russia for the first time become regular targets of Ukrainian strikes.
The graphic clearly illustrates the change in the nature of strikes on civilian logistical infrastructure during the war.

On the left is the chronology of Russian strikes on Ukrainian warehouse infrastructure starting from February 28, 2022.
On the right is the chronology of Ukrainian strikes on Russian warehouse infrastructure.
Russia began striking Ukraine's civilian logistics almost from the first days of the full-scale war. The first strike noted in the graphic was on the «Epicenter» warehouse in Chernihiv on February 28, 2022. Bucha and Mariupol followed in March.
In subsequent years, «Epicenter» warehouses and shopping centers, «Nova Poshta» branches and terminals, sorting centers, warehouses, and logistics hubs regularly appeared on the list.
This means that strikes on civilian logistics in Ukraine were not isolated episodes but a systematic practice throughout the war.
The concentration of Russian strikes in 2026 is particularly noticeable. Only from late May to early July, the graphic records a whole series of strikes on "Nova Poshta" facilities in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and other cities. From May 31 of this year, in just over a month, Russia carried out nine strikes on Ukrainian warehouses, meaning they were hit on average twice a week. And only on July 18, 2026, did Ukraine strike Wildberries for the first time.
Only after almost three and a half years is there a sharp change in the intensity of strikes. The logistical war becomes two-sided. Ukraine gained the capability or made the decision to systematically strike logistical infrastructure on Russian territory.
On August 23, Vladimir Putin stated that «Ukraine itself released the genie from the bottle» by starting strikes on Russian facilities and logistics. The published graphic shows that this is not the case at all.
