Ferry with 279 Passengers Sinks Off the Coast of Northern Cyprus
According to SHOT, there were Russian-speaking citizens on board.
In the Mediterranean Sea, near the city of Kyrenia (Northern Cyprus), a private company's ferry sank with 279 people on board.

The captain of the ferry, which was approximately 2-2.5 kilometers from the shore, noticed water entering the stern. An attempt to turn the vessel around and return to port was unsuccessful.
Coast Guard vessels were urgently dispatched to the scene of the accident. Civilian and private boats and vessels that were nearby actively joined in rescuing passengers from the water.
According to SHOT, there were Russian-speaking citizens on board.
Dozens of ambulances are waiting on the shore. There is no official data yet on the number of injured or possible casualties.
