On August 29, Alexander Lukashenka met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the latter's residence in Novo-Ogaryovo. The parties, as officially reported, discussed Belarusian-Russian trade and economic ties, electronics, and further bilateral cooperation.

Lukashenka stated that the day before, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the parties had discussed the main issues of interaction in detail. According to him, Belarus is fulfilling all reached agreements in the areas of agriculture, food, fuel, and other directions.

The politician noted that the international situation is prompting Minsk and Moscow to more actively discuss common problems. He emphasized that the countries intend to overcome emerging difficulties together. According to Lukashenka, the current meeting was primarily intended to summarize results, rather than to make new decisions.

Lukashenka separately dwelled on the growth of trade turnover between Belarus and Russia. He stated that this year, this indicator would significantly exceed last year's level. At the same time, modern electronics and other high-tech goods account for an increasing share of mutual trade. Lukashenka assured that Belarus, together with Russia, is creating the necessary production base and expects to reach an even higher level in the future.

Vladimir Putin also assessed the development of trade and economic relations as successful. According to him, despite attempts of external influence on the process, the trade turnover between the two countries last year amounted to almost 52 billion dollars. In the first six months of 2026, it increased by another 12.5%.

The Russian President also reported that the volume of direct Russian investments in the Belarusian economy reaches 4.5 billion dollars. About 2,500 enterprises with Russian capital operate in Belarus.
