Belarusian criminal with a travel ban to Russia rushed to the front. But he was arrested at the border and imprisoned again
Mikalai Zhurawski is in prison again. But at least he's alive!

Belarusian citizen Mikalai Zhurawski was sentenced in Russia to 9 months in a strict-regime penal colony. He was accused of illegal border crossing. Even his explanations didn't help — Zhurawski argued that he was making his way into Russia to enlist as a volunteer for the front.
The Belarusian has a long criminal history in Russia. Zhurawski recently served a year and a half for theft. When he was released, he was deported.
However, Zhurawski refused to sign the ban on returning to Russia, but the ban, of course, did not disappear because of that.
Nevertheless, after living a year and a half in Belarus, Zhurawski decided to go to Russia. According to him, to enlist for the front.
He reached the Belarusian-Russian border in the Nevel district by a passing truck and from there walked along the railway track, hoping to pass unnoticed by the border post. The plan failed: the alarm went off, and within a few hours, FSB border guards detained him right on the railway tracks with his Belarusian identity card and military ID on him.
Zhurawski did not lose hope of going to war later — from the pre-trial detention center, he contacted the military service selection point in the Pskov region, but he was refused: the law does not allow signing a contract with foreigners against whom a criminal case is already being pursued.
The court sentenced Zhurawski to a real term — 9 months in a strict-regime penal colony.
After the verdict, he might try to go to the front again. However, the list of fallen Belarusians does not yet include him.
