The remains were found by a tourist on July 26. They were transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Sion for identification. DNA analysis officially confirmed they belong to two climbers who went missing in the Weissmies mountain area 34 years ago.

On September 4, 1992, the men set out from the Weissmies mountain hut, planning to ascend the 4017-meter summit. They reached the Almagell hut but were unable to continue their ascent due to a sharp deterioration in weather.

Later, rescuers conducted several searches. At that time, only the climbers' backpack was found, but they themselves could not be located.

The bodies are now accessible due to the melting glacier. Due to climate change and accelerated ice loss, such discoveries are becoming more frequent in the Swiss Alps. Last year, the remains of a Swiss climber who disappeared in 1994 were also found on the Ober Gabelhorn glacier.

The Valais canton police maintain a list of people considered missing since 1925, primarily in mountainous areas and on rivers.

Glaciers preserve not only the remains of people who disappeared in recent decades. In 1991, in the Ötztal Alps at an altitude of about 3200 meters, tourists found the mummified body of a man who lived in the Copper Age in the melting ice. Scientists determined that Ötzi, as this man was named, lived about 5300 years ago.

как бы не "отдал" какую-нибудь заразу, замерзшую 10000 лет назад )
Я кстати на днях смотрел австрийский фильм на эту тему, что в тающем леднике высвободились бактерии, которые делали всех мутантами
