Poacher apprehended in Vileyka district for illegally killing an elk
In the Vileyka district, employees of the State Inspectorate for Wildlife and Plant Protection discovered an illegally hunted elk. In the Vileyka hunting grounds, they found the remains of an adult male with a gunshot wound and signs of dismemberment.
During operational measures, inspectors identified a person who might be involved in illegal hunting. It turned out that he killed the elk during a prohibited period and without the appropriate permit. The man admitted his guilt.
The amount of damage caused to the environment was estimated at 900 basic units.
During a search of the man's house, 14 plastic bags containing game meat weighing a total of 18.6 kg, 25 hunting cartridges, two registered smooth-bore hunting rifles, 24 primers, and a tin can with approximately 100 grams of gunpowder were also found. In addition, 10 containers with alcohol-containing liquid, presumably moonshine, were discovered.
The Vileyka District Department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case against the man under Part 4 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of Belarus.
