Svetlana Korotkevich, Deputy Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus, announced that first and premium grade flour may become more expensive in August and September. According to information from "Belgospischeprom", the price increase could range from 6% to 51.6%, writes the Russian publication Sputnik.
Among the enterprises that intend to raise prices, specifically mentioned are the Minsk, Klimovichi, and Gomel bakery product plants.
The Ministry of Trade reminded that Resolution No. 713 on state price regulation continues to be in force in Belarus. The agency promised to verify the information, and if it is confirmed, to take measures in accordance with the law.
Korotkevich emphasized that the principle of a fair price applies not only to trade but also to manufacturers. According to her, an unjustified increase in the cost of raw materials ultimately affects the final price of products for consumers. She also urged manufacturers and trade not to seek short-term gain by raising prices.
