Almost a day after Donald Trump's statement about an alleged "energy truce" agreement between Kyiv and Moscow, the Kremlin finally commented on the American leader's statement.

Calling the initiative a very good idea, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that it would only be effective if attacks on Russian tankers ceased and sanctions on Russia were partially lifted, writes "Agentstvo".

Peskov stated that the Kremlin "saw President Trump's publication regarding an energy truce." "In general, we certainly consider this a very good idea, a good initiative. We are in contact with the Americans, we are always on the side of peaceful solutions," Peskov said.

However, the presidential press secretary added that "guaranteeing the safe operation of refineries and increasing the volume of oil product production does not solve global problems." He named the export of oil products to world markets as the main problem.

"It is necessary to ensure safe merchant shipping, navigation for oil tankers. The Kyiv regime is not yet inclined to guarantee such safety. And you know that not only our oil tankers but also those belonging to other countries are suffering."

Peskov named the lifting of sanctions as the second condition for solving problems with oil supplies.

"Of course, sanctions must be lifted. These illegal restrictions on the supply of energy resources to the world. And only then, only then will the world be saturated, world markets, and prices will go down," Peskov stated.
