Memorandum signed on the construction of a high-speed railway line Moscow — Minsk
Belarus and Russia signed a memorandum of cooperation on the construction of a high-speed railway line Moscow — Minsk, reported the press service of Belarusian Railways.

The document was signed by Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Aleksei Liakhnovich and Minister of Transport of Russia Andrei Nikitin during a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State in Minsk. The prime ministers of the two countries, Alexander Turchyn and Mikhail Mishustin, were present at the signing.
The memorandum envisages cooperation in the design, construction, and subsequent operation of the high-speed line. A preliminary comprehensive study of the project is currently underway.
The parties plan to coordinate their actions, exchange experience, develop industrial cooperation, and train personnel for the future line. It is reported that the implementation of the project should contribute to the development of business activity, trade, investment, and tourism in the "Union State".
Meanwhile, since April 2, 2026, a suburban railway connection between Smolensk, Vitebsk, and Orsha has been operating. The results of these pilot projects are reportedly significantly exceeding forecasts. Therefore, after summarizing the year's results, the possibility of further expanding railway passenger connections between Belarus and Russia is planned to be considered.
