Russia more actively plans assassinations of heads of European defense companies

Russia is expanding sabotage and hybrid operations in Europe. It is more actively planning assassinations of heads of European defense enterprises, including companies that produce drones and their components, reports the Financial Times, citing its sources. The GRU is involved in this.
Russia thus wants to weaken support for Ukraine at a time when Russian troops have no significant success on the front.
The Kremlin's plans for assassinations were partly confirmed by the head of German counterintelligence, Sinan Selen. Speaking to Bundestag deputies, he stated that Russia plans violent actions against individuals using state structures or executors controlled by them.
Several heads of defense companies have strengthened their security in the last six months on the recommendation of state security services. Some use security only during foreign trips.
For its operations abroad, the GRU is increasingly cooperating with organized criminal groups and recruiting one-off agents for money.
The publication writes that some attacks have already been prevented by European special services.
But the psychological effect of such threats is also important. "Just by making people feel they could be targets, they [the Kremlin] are achieving an effect. They want people to think twice before doing business with Ukraine," said a representative of one of the intelligence services.
