Former Belarusian Political Prisoner Gave His Explanation for Going to Fight for Putin
Aliaksei Korshun, who signed a contract with the Russian army, now repairs cars and other equipment at the front.

Aliaksei Korshun is a former Belarusian political prisoner who, after his release from the penal colony, went to Russia. In fact, he lived there before his arrest. In Russia, Korshun started a new family. His chosen one is Anzhela, a manicurist from Volgograd.
So why did he sign up for the front? Aliaksei gave his friends the argument that he was allegedly tired of living under regular nightly shelling by Ukraine.
It is not exactly known where the Korshuns live, but if they are in Volgograd itself, then his words are untrue. The Ukrainians did not hit the city itself; only the oil refinery was hit.
So, according to Aliaksei, he got tired of such a life, which is why, he says, he signed a contract with the Russian army.
At the war, Korshun repairs cars and other equipment.
Comment Written Even Before the Elections
The comment for which Aliaksei Korshun was convicted in Belarus was left by him in May 2020, during the first wave of coronavirus. The man accused the Belarusian authorities of deception with disease statistics. He was detained in March 2021. The court sentenced him to two and a half years in a penal colony, and human rights defenders recognized him as a political prisoner.
On September 17, 2021, Korshun's sentence was mitigated: the penal colony was replaced by correctional labor without imprisonment. He worked as a loader in a village store but soon escaped. To do this, Korshun left his phone on a bus to mislead the police, while he himself got to Vitebsk, and from there he traveled to Russia without documents.
Unsuccessful Evacuation
Initially, Aliaksei Korshun lived in Smolensk, after which BySol representatives helped him move to Belgorod. From there, he was supposed to be evacuated to Ukraine, but on February 24, 2022, the full-scale Russian invasion began.
Emigration to Georgia was also considered, but this plan fell through. Then the Belarusian moved to Voronezh and got a job at a car service.
Later, in conversations with friends, Aliaksei Korshun mentioned that unsuccessful evacuation with resentment — claiming that similar refugees were being taken from Russia to Poland and Lithuania, while he continued to be moved between Russian cities.
In June 2022, a taxi in which Korshun was riding was stopped by traffic police officers. The Belarusian had no documents. After checking his fingerprints, it turned out that he was on a wanted list in his homeland.
Aliaksei Korshun requested temporary asylum in Russia. While the documents were being processed, he was held in a detention center for foreigners. Russian authorities denied him asylum and did not wait for the appeal to be considered. On October 26, 2022, the man was put on a plane to Minsk, where security forces were waiting for him right at the airport.
The Belarusian court replaced the remainder of his correctional labor without imprisonment with a penal colony. Aliaksei Korshun served his sentence in penal colony No. 17 in Shklov and was released on August 20, 2023. After this, he went to Russia for the second time. There, he first opened a car service, then abandoned this venture, bought an abandoned plot of land, began building a house, and kept a dacha blog. But he also got tired of this.
Former Fiancee and Child Now in Moscow
After Korshun's first escape, security forces came to his then-fiancee and seized her phone for inspection. In 2022, it was reported that human rights defenders helped the woman and her child move to Lithuania.
As Nasha Niva learned, she later married another man and now lives with her family in Moscow. She does not maintain close relations with Korshun.
