"Because the results of the 2020 elections were rigged."

Trump believes he has the right to run for president for a third time. The US president said this during an event in Iowa.
According to him, he "has the right to run again" because the 2020 elections were "rigged."
At the same time, he admitted that the law likely prohibits him from doing so: "I'm not 100% sure, but I think the law says I'm not allowed to run again."
The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, adopted in 1951, prohibits running for president more than twice. It was adopted after Franklin Roosevelt won elections four times.
The next presidential elections in the US will take place in two years, in November 2028. In two weeks, on November 3, 2026, the so-called midterm elections will be held: elections to Congress and gubernatorial elections.
