"After the first murder, his wife divorced him." What is known about Sergey, a father of many children from Stolin district, who killed three people
They drank, they argued — and 33-year-old Sergey Mishkov from the village of Algomel stabbed two of his drinking companions and their mother. In Belarusian legal practice, such a story is a direct path to execution. What is known about the killer and his victims?

In recent days, the residents of Algomel are devastated. "We are all like family in the village; almost everyone has relatives nearby," says a local resident.
Algomel is a large village in Polesia, with over 1000 people. It's in the Stolin district, although it's as far as 60 km along the highway to the district center. There is both an Orthodox church and a Baptist one.
The 33-year-old Sergey Mishkov himself, who first killed two brothers with a knife, and then their mother, has many namesakes here.
"He looked calm, went fishing, worked at 'Palesse' (one of the main agricultural enterprises of Stolin district — NN)," his neighbors say about him.
"He lived alone. He has children — three of them. And he had a wife, but they are divorced. The woman is not from here, so she took the little ones with her."
This "calm" man committed his first murder in May 2018 — Sergey was 25 years old at the time. According to the case materials, which were shared with "Nasha Niva" by "Belpol", Mishkov then killed a 51-year-old woman in the neighboring village of Velikoye Maleshevo — the conflict also occurred during a drinking spree. And Mishkov killed his first victim with a knife, just as he did now.
The police report at the time stated that Mishkov had not three, but even four children.
It was precisely after the first murder and arrest that Sergey, according to neighbors, was divorced by his wife.
It is unknown what term Mishkov received, but the minimum given for murder is six years. There have been no amnesties for such an article for a long time. Early release is theoretically possible but rarely applied.
He served his time and returned to Algomel. In recent years, he lived under the same roof as his parents.
"His parents are very good. His dad is excellent, he doesn't even drink. It's a tragedy for them, a tragedy," locals sigh.
A couple of days before the tragedy, Sergey quit his job.
His new victims were the Kazhanov family from Novaya Street — the massacre took place in their house. It is unclear what caused the conflict, but the guest grabbed a knife that came to hand. First, he dealt with the brothers, and then with their mother.
In the police video, Sergey Mishkov says he was detained for a triple murder. "Who did you kill?" — "Two men and one woman," he sighs. "Where was it?" — "Algomel village." "Where did you get the knife?" — "Where I found it, I took it…"
Who were his victims?
64-year-old Maria Kazhanova, the hostess of the house, previously worked as a livestock breeder. Her husband Pyotr died, but her older children — 37-year-old Sergey and 40-year-old Alexander — were always with her. Both were considered unemployed. The family also has a younger son, Nikolay.
"They drank, but rarely," villagers characterize the Kazhanovs.
After the murder, Sergey tried to stage a mess in the house, placed the deceased next to each other, and hid at his acquaintance's place, but the police quickly tracked him down.
For the murder of two or more people, Mishkov would in any case face execution. But judicial practice shows that in his case, the threat of the death penalty is not theoretical, but very high.
If a person, after serving their sentence, returned to their old ways, they are a clear candidate for the severest punishment. And in Mishkov's situation, not only was there a recidivism, but he also has as many as three victims on his new count.
