Dashkievich: I Will Not Obey Any Prison Administration

A “surrender” by Belarusian political prisoner.

The bride of Belarusian political prisoner Zmicier Dashkievich when visiting him in the penal colony learned that the colony administration has passed the documents to the Investigative Committee urging it to initiate a new criminal case on “violation of the regime of the penal institution”.

However, Zmicier addressed the colony administration with the outstripping letter he sarcastically called “a surrender”.

“I, Daskievich D.V., recognize myself guilty of consciously refusing to execute several demands of the colony administration I consider illegal.

“To simplify the work of the colony administration and the Investigating Committee, I state I refuse to obey any demands of administration of any colony I am placed to.

“I would advise the secret services to sentence me maximum to term possible for article 411 of the Criminal Code of Belarus and to initiate such cases in every new colony.

The article 411 of the Criminal Code of Belarus presupposes max. 1 year’s imprisonments.

The leader of youth opposition organization Young Front Zmicier Dashkievich was arrested on December 18, 2010, one day before the presidential elections in Belarus.

He was accused of fight and sentenced to 2 years in prison. His associate Eduard Lobau was sentenced to 4 years’ imprisonment.

Zmicier Dashkievich was repeatedly forced to apply for the pardon, but he rejected. The political prisoner is to be released on December 19 in case no new criminal cases are initiated against him.
