"I thought they were Russian rubles." Belarusians outraged by the cost of dog treatment

On Threads, they are discussing the story of Misha, a seriously ill puppy, whose treatment cost his owner several thousand rubles. Social media users were particularly surprised by the cost of the infectious disease hospital — 2600 rubles per day, writes the publication "Onliner".

Misha was diagnosed with parvoviral enteritis. According to the author of the publication, the puppy was initially placed in a hospital, where about 8000 rubles were spent on his treatment over several days.

Later, the dog's condition worsened, and Misha was transferred to a more expensive infectious disease hospital. Its price, the owner claims, is already 2600 rubles per day. She does not want to take the animal home due to its serious condition, and has not yet managed to find another place: according to her, other clinics refused to accept the puppy.

The price, in fact, caused a heated discussion. Some users began to recommend other veterinary clinics and share their own experiences in treating animals.

"Where do such prices come from? Until the last moment, I thought these were Russian rubles, converted for some reason. I would like to see what is included in the price and how the calculation was made. Did they include the cost of a new house for the chief veterinary doctor? They need to be looked into and an inspection organized. Where is the justification for the prices?" — one of the commenters was outraged.

Another user said that she herself faced large expenses for veterinary care:

"Last year I spent 9000 rubles for cat treatment. I will write to MARG. Let them bring them to their senses."

"2600 rubles per day for what? Are you taking your dog to a resort for treatment or what are you doing?"

On August 18, the owner reported that the pet's condition had improved slightly: Misha began to eat a little on his own. He was transferred to another, cheaper hospital — for 1030 rubles per day.

Moreover, this is not the only story of large veterinary hospital bills currently being shared on social media. Another owner told about a cat that fell out of a window. The animal was diagnosed with a ruptured lung, a traumatic brain injury, and a broken paw.

The owners were offered either euthanasia or treatment in a hospital. They decided to fight for the animal. According to the owner, the cost of such a hospital starts from 800 rubles per day and increases depending on the necessary procedures.
