In Kaunas, they are searching for a maniac who killed two young girls and never reached the apartment of a third.

Thursday, December 4, became a tragic day for Kaunas, Lithuania. Two young women were brutally murdered in the city. Police believe the murders are related and are actively searching for a single suspect.
The first report came to the police around 1:00 PM. The body of a 22-year-old girl with a cut throat was found in an apartment. In the evening, relatives of another girl, 24 years old, reported that they could not contact her. Police officers entered her apartment and found the body of the second victim, also with signs of violence.
Both crimes occurred in the same neighborhood, with the crime scenes separated by only a few hundred meters. The exact time of death is being established, but it is assumed that the first murder occurred in the morning between 10 and 11 o'clock, and the second in the afternoon, between 12 and 1 o'clock.
The chief prosecutor of the district prosecutor's office confirmed that the same person, 29-year-old Benas Mikutavičius, is suspected of murdering both girls.
The criminal cases have been combined, and an investigation is underway into a murder committed with particular cruelty. According to the prosecutor, there is currently no information about sexual violence or other crimes. The suspect himself has not been previously convicted and has not come to the attention of the police in criminal cases, having only administrative penalties.
It is assumed that the suspect may still be in or around Kaunas, although it is possible that he has moved to another city. Police warn that Mikutavičius leads a rather secluded life, has a small income, and therefore may travel on foot or by public transport.
The investigation has established the motives for the killer's connection with the victims. The first deceased girl is Mikutavičius's cousin. They lived in the same apartment. The second victim was connected to him through renting housing: he probably agreed to view an apartment that the girl was renting out or renting.
This version is also confirmed by messages on social networks. On Facebook, another woman shared correspondence with Mikutavičius. He called about an ad and wanted to come and see her apartment on Thursday, December 4, in the afternoon, around 2:00 PM.

Journalists visited the Tauragė district, in the village of Žygaičiai, where the suspect is from, and spoke with fellow villagers who know the parents of both the victims and the killer. People call both families normal and claim that they can only say good things about them. It is known that Benas's parents are divorced, his father is abroad, and there is also a brother and sister in the family.
Locals note some peculiarities in Mikutavičius's behavior. According to them, the guy was quirky, never looked up and always looked down when meeting someone.
According to local residents, the apartment in Kaunas was rented jointly by the parents of both the cousin and sister. However, according to rumors, the sister actually supported the brother, who paid for nothing and freeloaded. Aggression had not been noticed in him before.
Residents also shared an important detail that may explain the motive for the first murder. According to them, it was on December 4 that the uncle (a relative of both young people) was supposed to come to the apartment in Kaunas to pick up Benas's belongings and evict him.
Locals are sure that the father will not cover for his son, but they do not know where he can hide without money.
The police reported that Mikutavičius has been put on a national wanted list, and it is planned to initiate an international one in the near future.
Citizens are warned that the man may behave inadequately and pose a threat, so it is strongly recommended not to try to detain him on their own, but to call the police.
