Leader of neo-Nazi brigade to be bid farewell in main ROC church
The creator of the «Española» brigade will be the first participant of the war in Ukraine to be bid farewell in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.

The farewell ceremony for the creator of the ultra-right «Española» brigade, Sergei «Spaniard» Orlov, who died under mysterious circumstances, will take place on December 22 in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in central Moscow, the Telegram channel of the unit founded by him reported.
This is the first known participant of the war in Ukraine to be bid farewell in the main ROC church, writes «Agentstvo».
The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour holds funeral services for prominent cultural figures, high-ranking officials, and priests of the country. Farewell ceremonies were held here for Russia's first president Boris Yeltsin, former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov, actor and director Stanislav Govorukhin, composer Mstislav Rostropovich and writer Valentin Rasputin, LDPR founder Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and sculptor Zurab Tsereteli.
Only one public case of a funeral service in the church for a deceased person related to the war in Ukraine is known — that of military archpriest Mikhail Vasiliev. He died in November 2022 in the Kherson region during a HIMARS strike. Putin posthumously awarded the priest the title of Hero of Russia.
The «Española» announcement became the first confirmation of rumors about Orlov's death, which appeared more than a week ago. It is not clear from the post what caused the death.
«We cannot fail to note that many are interested in the causes of the Spaniard's death, and we are no less so. Currently, central investigative bodies are establishing the exact cause and place of death, as well as those responsible. Official information will be published based on the results of the investigation,» they wrote in the channel.
According to Mash data, Orlov was in a coma for several days before his death. Orlov was probably killed during the arrest. The Ministry of Defence-linked blog «Rybar» reported that Orlov died while resisting arrest.
