«As of today, a fair version is possible — we stand where we stand». Zelenskyy commented on the territorial issue
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a possible compromise with Russia on the territorial issue today consists of fixing the situation along the existing line of contact. He reported this while answering journalists' questions, writes Ukrinform.

According to Zelenskyy, the fairest option now is to remain where the parties are actually located.
«In my opinion, as of today, a fair version is possible — we stand where we stand. This is the contact line in any region of our state. […] This means that Russians, as far as Donbas is concerned, will stand on the temporarily occupied part of our Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and we can only return such territories through diplomatic means. And we will stand and live on the part of Donbas that is controlled by the Ukrainian authorities».
Zelenskyy emphasized that it is fundamentally important for Ukraine not to lose control over the territories it currently holds. He also noted that the very presence of Russian troops on Ukrainian soil is unfair.
The President of Ukraine also reported that Russia demands Ukraine to withdraw its troops from the Donetsk region. However, according to him, Ukraine cannot take unconstitutional steps and abandon its own territories, and neither the authorities nor the people of the country have such a desire.
Zelenskyy noted that the USA is looking for possible compromises and, in particular, proposed the idea of a free economic zone without troops and heavy weaponry. However, the Ukrainian side does not believe in the security of such an option, as there is a risk that the Russian army could re-enter these lands at any moment.
Zelenskyy emphasized that any disengagement of forces is possible only under equal conditions: if one side retreats a certain distance, the other must do the same. Only then can some kind of buffer zone emerge, but that is still a long way off.
Therefore, the most honest and realistic option, according to Zelenskyy, is to remain in the current positions.
He also stated that if the issue of creating a free economic zone is still considered, the final decision must be made by the people of Ukraine.

Менавіта я з такое не веру, таму пры такіх умовах вайна будзе працягвацца.
- Пры якіх умовах Масква можа спыніцца? Альбо калі захопіць Данбас, альбо калі УСУ іх разаб'е.
-Атрымліваецца, мае сэнс працягваць вайну толькі тады, калі ёсць магчымасць разьбіць армію РФ. Менавіта я, не бачу на цяперашні час такой магчымасці ў УСУ.
