What communal services should clean at the cemetery, and what relatives should
The neglected state of the cemetery near Svislach village in Pukhovichi district angered local residents: people complain about overgrown areas, lack of water, and garbage containers. However, the communal service states that responsibilities at the cemetery are divided.

A resident of Druzhny village in Pukhovichi district contacted the editorial office of "Minskaya Prauda". According to her, no one looks after the cemetery near the urban-type settlement of Svislach.
According to the woman, the cemetery is in disarray.
«We popularly call them Dukorskoye. We've asked so many times to install garbage containers near the cemetery, to put a pump so people could wash their hands or monuments — nothing is being done. When we go to the cemetery, we drag a five-liter bottle with us. We are not young people! It's hard for us! Hogweed grows — it needs to be either mown or poisoned. Snakes live in this vegetation — it's scary to walk. How long will we have to fight for order?!» — the woman complains.
Sergei Khendogin, director of UE "Zhylteplaservis" KG of Pukhovichi district, explained how responsibilities for maintenance are delimited.
Communal services are exclusively responsible for public areas. Communal workers mow the main pathways and the area around the cemetery, remove dry branches, and empty garbage from containers.
Relatives of the deceased are obliged to look after the graves themselves and the area around them.
«The condition of the grave is the responsibility of the people who organized the burial or the installation of the monument — they are recognized as the de facto owners of the plot and are obliged to monitor its maintenance,» — the organization emphasizes, referring to Resolution of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services No. 17.
What is included in the relatives' responsibilities:
- regularly remove garbage, old wreaths, and fallen leaves;
- prevent the plot from becoming overgrown with grass and weeds;
- mow and clean not only the plot itself but also the passages between neighboring graves.
Regarding the claims, the Housing and Communal Services added that the Dukorskoye cemetery was last mown on July 17, garbage containers are installed there, but the provision of water and pumps is not foreseen by the general plan for the use of the facility.
