How the emergency service will work in Minsk during the New Year holidays and where to call if something happens?

On regular days, 13 crews are on duty around the clock — this number is sufficient to respond promptly to citizens' requests.

As Alexander Kislyuk, director of the UE "City Emergency Service", stated, during the past long weekend, from December 25 to 28, two additional vehicles were deployed – for plumbing and electrical work. Then – a return to the usual format for three pre-New Year days. This short period can be described as the calm before the storm.

From December 31 to January 4, 2026, 17 crews will already be dispatched: eight plumbing, six electrical, and three welding. For hydrodynamic cleaning of drainage systems and pumping out wastewater, not one, as usual, but two vehicles will be used.

— The busiest days, as practice shows, will be December 31 and January 1 — the number of requests increases to 600-700 per day. For comparison: on regular days, we receive about 300 requests per day, and on weekends — approximately one and a half times more.

But we are ready for such an operating mode; if necessary, we can involve housing and communal services (ЖЭУ) house masters, who will be on duty in their areas during the upcoming weekends. For example, if a flood occurs, and there are no available or nearby emergency service crews. We contact the on-duty ЖЭУ specialist, who goes to the address and shuts off the water to the riser. Then our team arrives and performs the necessary repair work to restore the communal service," explained A. Kislyuk, outlining the procedure.

He noted that on the last day of December, emergency situations related to electricity supply problems (typically in homes where residents use electric stoves) occur more frequently. The simultaneous switching on of stove burners, ovens, electric grills, and other household appliances in each apartment leads to an overload of the common house electrical grid.

In the first days of January, the nature of requests changes — there are leaks in plumbing equipment (especially connections), sewage blockages, and apartment floods. Such requests belong to the first category, and they are responded to primarily.

— In the busy New Year schedule, minor delays are possible," the head warned. "We hope residents will understand this and also heed our recommendations. Specifically — try to minimize the load on the electrical grid, do not flush foreign objects, including food waste, down the toilet, and monitor the condition of plumbing equipment and its connected hoses.

In case of malfunctions in the engineering systems of a residential building, or interruptions in the provision of communal services (electricity, water, heat supply, and sewage), you should call 115.

From December 31 to January 1, requests can also be sent directly to the city emergency service by phone: 292-22-13, 292-25-68. Calls will be handled by three dispatchers.
