Polish publication RMF24 reports this, and "European Pravda" conveys it.
The investigation began after Dariusz Standerski, Poland's Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs, sent a letter to the European Commission at the end of December. In it, he noted that the content "bears the hallmarks of a coordinated disinformation campaign" and "poses a threat to public order, information security, and the integrity of democratic processes in Poland and throughout the European Union."
The Polish official urged Brussels to initiate proceedings and take supervisory measures against TikTok.
As the Polish publication learned, the European Commission will check the compliance of content on TikTok with EU law.
"The European Commission's services will now contact the Polish authorities to obtain more detailed information and assess the facts with the aim of verifying compliance with the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA)," said European Commission spokesperson Eva Hrnčírová.
According to her, very large online platforms, including TikTok, must assess all risks associated with their services, including those related to artificial intelligence. She added that as early as March 2024, the European Commission requested information from TikTok about measures taken to address such risks.

Context: Rising Euroscepticism in Poland
The investigation comes against the backdrop of rising Eurosceptic sentiment in Polish society. Polls conducted in December showed that about a quarter of the country's citizens are ready to support leaving the European Union.
Specifically, 24.7% of respondents expressed support for Poland's exit from the EU: 11.6% stated they were "strongly against" EU membership, while 13.1% were "rather in favor" of leaving. At the same time, 69% of citizens still support membership in the European Union.
