UK and France launched joint airstrike on 'Islamic State' targets in Syria
The UK Ministry of Defence announced that Royal Air Force (RAF) fighters joined French aircraft to carry out a joint strike on an underground weapons depot in Syria used by the 'Islamic State' (IS) group.

According to the military statement, the depot was located in the mountains north of Palmyra, the BBC reports.
In December, US forces struck dozens of IS targets in Syria in response to a militant attack on a Syrian-American patrol in Palmyra, which killed three Americans.
According to UN data, IS still has 5,000 to 7,000 fighters in Syria and Iraq.
