12-year-old schoolgirls from Minsk handed over about Br50,000 of parents' money to fraudsters
The girls met what they believed to be peers online, and soon after, they were sent a geolocation for a meeting.
Then unknown individuals contacted them and informed them that their personal data had fallen into the hands of criminals, and their families were in danger, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service.
After this, messages allegedly from an investigator began to arrive, threatening the arrest of their parents. To avoid this, one of the victims collected her family's savings, took money from the other girl, and handed over about 50,000 rubles to a stranger.
Operatives detained the courier — a 29-year-old resident of a neighboring country, who arrived in Minsk to carry out the curator's assignments.
He handed the money over to an intermediary and headed to the station, where he was detained by police officers.
A criminal case has been initiated for fraud.
