In December 2025, Yury Zuev — an artist and sculptor who lived and worked in Vitebsk since 1980 — passed away at the age of 90. He was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (since 1986) and the Belarusian Union of Artists (since 1987), writes the Telegram channel "Vitebsk, I'm walking!"

From 1980 to 1986, Yury Zuev was the chief architect of Vitebsk.
His works could be seen not only at exhibitions but also in the urban space of Vitebsk — for example, a monumental panel on Moskovsky Avenue.

Now, concern has arisen on social media regarding the preservation of his legacy. The artist's paintings, sculptures, and sketches were stored in a workshop, which, according to the authors of the publications, is being requested to be vacated.
The artist's daughter, Natallia, is appealing to city authorities in search of a place to store the works and thereby save her father's legacy, but so far without success.
