"Extremists" officially banned from working with children

As of January 17, separate provisions of Law No. 86-Z "On Amending Laws on Ensuring Children's Rights" came into force in Belarus. The document significantly strengthens control over personnel in education and upbringing, and also imposes new obligations on parents and employers.

Now, individuals with convictions under "extremist" articles are officially deprived of the right to engage in pedagogical activity. Here, they are equated with those convicted of drug offenses.

Employers are obliged to conduct psychological interviews with both candidates and those already working with children.

The law also affects the information space around minors. Parents are now directly obliged to protect children from "harmful information" on the internet. State bodies, in turn, must advise parents and guardians on how exactly to do this.
