France has released the oil tanker Grinch, part of Russia's "shadow fleet", after a multi-million euro fine was paid and it spent three weeks docked in the port of Fos-sur-Mer. This was reported by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.

"The oil tanker Grinch will leave French waters after paying several million euros and three weeks of expensive downtime in Fos-sur-Mer. Circumventing European sanctions has its price. Russia will no longer be able to finance the war with impunity using its 'shadow fleet' near our shores," noted the French minister.
The Grinch tanker departed from the Russian port of Murmansk in early January and sailed under the flag of the Comoros, but the owning company could not confirm the legal ownership of the vessel, for which it received a fine.
Minister Jean-Noël Barrot also noted that the 20th package of EU sanctions should reliably block Russia's "shadow fleet".
