Billionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates made a series of open confessions regarding his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexual crimes, during a meeting with his foundation's team. This happened amid the publication of new files in the Epstein case.
Gates called his meetings with Epstein "a huge mistake" and apologized to everyone affected by the situation. He admitted that his association with such a person damaged the foundation's reputation, whose values are entirely opposite to everything Epstein did.
The billionaire openly admitted to having two extramarital affairs with Russian women, which Epstein later learned about. One of them is a bridge player whom he met at tournaments. The other is a nuclear physicist whom he met through work matters.
Gates says that these women were not Epstein's victims and that he himself never participated in anything illegal. However, according to media reports, Epstein tried to use information about these affairs to blackmail or pressure Gates.
According to Bill Gates, Epstein convinced him that he could help raise billions of dollars for charity through his connections with wealthy people on Wall Street. Gates says that the presence of other influential people at the meetings "normalized" the situation in his eyes.
Gates claims that he did not meet with Epstein after 2014 and ignored his emails.
