Hydrologists have reported that ice melting has begun on individual rivers in Belarus, primarily in the southern and southwestern regions, BelTA writes .

It is reported that some tributaries of the Neman and Sozh rivers have already become ice-free. The Svislach River near the village of Dzinevichy, Berastavitsa district, has completely cleared of ice formations.
As of February 25, most rivers still have ice cover or ice cover with open patches. The ice thickness ranges from 13 to 45 centimeters. In the southern and southwestern regions, open patches and edges have expanded, and water is appearing on the ice in some places.
On large reservoirs — Vileyka, Chigirin, Salihorsk, Zaslaŭje, Krasnaya Slabada — as well as on lakes Narach, Dryvyaty, Chyrvonaye, and Lukomskaye, a continuous ice cover with a thickness of 20 to 42 centimeters persists.
A rise in water levels of 1-14 centimeters per day is noted in the basins of the Neman, Viliya, Pripyat, on the Dnieper near Orsha and Loyew, on the Berezina near Barysaw, on the Sozh in Homiel, and on a number of their tributaries. The most intense rise – up to 50 centimeters per day – is observed on rivers in the Bug basin.
On the Ptsich River near the village of Pershaya Slabodka, Petrykaw district, the water level has already exceeded the floodplain access mark. In the coming days, a similar situation is predicted for the Viliya River near the agrotown of Stseshytsy, Vileyka district.
According to forecasts, water levels will continue to rise in the basins of the Neman, Viliya, Western Bug, and Pripyat rivers, and the ice will continue to melt. No significant changes in the ice situation are expected yet in the basins of the Dvina, Dnieper, Berezina, and Sozh rivers.
