One of the banks returned almost a quarter of a million rubles of credit overpayments to clients
The General Prosecutor's Office of Belarus reported that one of the banks must return over 226 thousand rubles of credit overpayments to clients. Violations were discovered at the end of 2025: it turned out that the bank did not comply with the requirements of civil and banking legislation, as well as the terms of credit agreements.

As it turned out, back in April 2022, the bank unilaterally changed the terms of the loans. It set a fixed annual interest rate instead of the previous variable rate, which consisted of the refinancing rate and additional points. However, clients were not informed about the changes.
The Prosecutor's Office explained that in recent years, the refinancing rate in the country had been decreasing, and therefore, interest rates on loans should have also decreased. However, the bank continued to calculate them without taking this reduction into account, which violated the terms of the agreements.
As a result of the audit, the bank recalculated and returned the overpaid amounts to clients, along with penalties and compensation for the use of other people's money. The total amount exceeded 226 thousand rubles.
It is reported that about one and a half thousand people were affected by the bank's actions, but which bank it is, they are not saying.
