In the new episode of the program "Just Ask Me" on "Belsat", the well-known economist Pavel Daneika, among other things, spoke about joint flights with the then-chairman of the board of Belgazprombank, Viktar Babaryka.
During classes with students of the Executive MBA program, which included many top managers and business owners, Daneika promoted the idea that flying business class on short flights (one and a half to two hours) is "just showing off".
However, he himself ended up in a situation that contradicted his words.
"Babaryka got me involved in the Belgazprombank's board of directors. And we flew to a board meeting in St. Petersburg. And the tickets were business class. We settled in, and people were coming in, and there were two or three of my MBA students, to whom I had told that one shouldn't fly like that. They, of course, politely greeted me and asked: 'How do you like business class?' In short, those rascals had a full laugh at my expense," the economist recalls with humor.
During that flight, Daneika tried to persuade Babaryka: "Let's fly differently next time, well, the tickets are expensive, it's not good."
"He looked at me and said: 'Are you sorry for Russian money?' Well, at that, I fell silent. We continued to fly business class, because I understood that we were, in a way, undermining the Russian position," Daneika shared.
