Commenting on the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia mediated by the US, Trump noted that it was "time for Volodymyr Zelensky to act" and ensure an agreement is reached. He also reiterated his belief that Vladimir Putin is ready for a deal.
However, the American leader did not specify what he saw as obstacles from the Ukrainian leadership, but stated that Zelensky allegedly does not demonstrate sufficient readiness for negotiations and is an obstacle to them.
"You have no cards. He has even fewer cards now," Trump said.
In addition, he once again criticized the Joe Biden administration for providing free ammunition to Ukraine, noting that it could be better sold to Middle Eastern countries.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the US had asked for help in countering "Shahed" drones, which Iran is now actively using in the Middle East.
The previous round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia took place in February. Later, Moscow stated that there was no clarity yet regarding the next meeting and its venue, as the talks in Abu Dhabi, which were previously considered, might not happen due to the war in the Middle East. Signals also came from the Kremlin that Russia might withdraw from negotiations if Ukraine does not agree to territorial concessions. The European Commission called such a position an attempt to prolong the negotiation process.
