Although the official results of the vote have not yet been announced, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has already congratulated the country's residents on the adoption of the new Constitution: "The final results of the citizens' will will be summarized, in accordance with the law. But even now, we can say that the citizens of Kazakhstan have demonstrated the brightest example of unity, solidarity, patriotism, and shared responsibility for the fate of the Motherland," he stated.
The changes to the Constitution are not expected to alter the nature of the regime in Kazakhstan in any way. It remains authoritarian, with a dominant role for the president.
