«Thank you, President Lukashenka, for today's pardon of 18 political prisoners. This is another important step in relations between the US and Belarus, as President Trump tasked me with securing the release of all political prisoners» — Coale wrote on X.
On March 5, Lukashenka indeed signed a decree pardoning 18 people; however, not all of them were convicted on politically motivated charges. Only 15 of them are political prisoners, and their names are not yet known. It is only known that most are women, with one being pregnant. Two married couples were also released.
