Vladimir Makei always brought homemade meals to work and said that the house should smell of freshly prepared food
The politician's widow, Vera Polyakova-Makei, told how her husband ate.

Actress, director of the Minsk Youth Theater Vera Polyakova-Makei, in a conversation with Sputnik.by, spoke about her marriage to Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, which lasted 17 years — until the politician's death in November 2022.
She says that, being a creative and emotional person, she taught him to smile. And also, surprisingly, — to shout and gesticulate actively.
— My husband always said: "You can have a brilliant career, pursue your profession, I'm not against it, but the house should always smell of freshly prepared food."
Then there is a feeling of comfort, cleanliness, and care. Everyone knew that my husband never ate in public catering — he always took food prepared by me. Yes, those very "homemade meals," — said the actress.
Vera Polyakova-Makei added that even today, being a very busy and dedicated professional, she tries to find time for household chores. She cares for her sons and her already quite elderly parents.
— I wake up before everyone else, prepare a hot lunch and breakfast, take my child to school. I handle household matters. On weekends, of course, I clean, wash, iron, and do everything that an ordinary woman does, — said the actress.
Vera Polyakova-Makei continues the tradition started by her husband: homemade "packed meals" prepared with soul are present in her life every day.
— I come to the theater and don't go out for lunch. I always eat what I prepared and brought with me.
