Facilitation of this decision by the Polish side was carried out by Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet Pavel Latushka, while coordination with the Lithuanian side was handled by representative for social policy Volha Zazulinskaya and diplomatic advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office Dzianis Kuchynski.
"I am grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Chief Commander of the Border Guard Service of Poland for today's substantive operational communication and effective working contacts, which led to the exceptional positive administrative decision regarding the possibility for three released political prisoners to enter Poland from Lithuania. They had no documents as they were deported to Lithuania without identity cards. I also express gratitude for the assistance to the Lithuanian "Freedom House" and the Center for Belarusian Solidarity. As a next step, we will provide assistance to the released Belarusians in applying for international protection in Poland," noted Pavel Latushka.
The names of the political prisoners are not disclosed.
