Lithuanian President congratulated Belarusians on Freedom Day: «Your determination and resilience inspire»

On behalf of the people of Lithuania, I want to congratulate all Belarusians who are celebrating Freedom Day today. This day symbolizes your tireless pursuit of freedom, independence, and sovereignty and is very important for all people who cherish human rights and democracy.
As your neighbors, we closely observe your brave struggle for these universal human values. Your determination and resilience inspire many people and constantly remind the entire international community how important the solidarity of peoples and consistent support for those striving for their fundamental rights are.
Freedom Day is not only a day when you recall your struggle for freedom at various historical stages and the sacrifices of those who fought for the free will of the people. It is also a day for reflection on the future — a European future for Belarus, in which all Belarusians will enjoy all the freedoms and opportunities they deserve.
Lithuania and Belarus are united by a common centuries-old history, shared cultural heritage, and close human ties. Lithuania actively supports Belarusian civil society and strives to ensure that the voices of Belarusians are heard in the international community.
Today, as every day, I want to reaffirm that Lithuania's support for a democratic Belarus, its independence, and sovereignty is unwavering. We support the will of all people of Belarus to live in a free and democratic state. Lithuania recognizes the aspirations expressed by Belarusian democratic forces and their leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to build a democratic and European future for Belarus.
I wish you to remain strong and united in the face of all the challenges you face daily. And continue to fight for the freedom of your country; do not allow your state to be used in Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.
May this Freedom Day be a beacon of hope, illuminating the path to a better future for Belarus — one in which democracy, justice, and human rights triumph. May this day bring you all closer to realizing the aspiration for a free, independent, prosperous, and European Belarus.
